There has been a widespread protest against the song and video of the song 'Deshdrohi' which has been made public on YouTube. In the video, the flag of Nepal has been burnt and a particular caste has been insulted. The song is sung by Mongol Galji.
The song, which was made public on Monday on a YouTube channel called Mongol Hop, was written by Galji. More than 59,000 people have 'disliked' this song on YouTube, calling it a refugee. The video misinterprets the cap and the flag. In the video, pictures of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Prithvinarayan Shah and others have been burnt.
Mentioning that there is a special caste that kills Mongols, imposes Khas script, grabs fertile land, and makes them celebrate Vijayadashami, the song says that one should choose the path of Mongol nationalism.
Those who objected to the burning of Nepal's flag in the video have also demanded action against the singer. 'How come the thought of doing such a thing. I don't agree with this whole song.
